Antheia Receives Phase II SBIR Awards to Develop Safer Manufacturing Processes for Painkillers
This NSF Phase II award "A complete bioprocess for medicinal plant opioids" has built upon the early-stage R&D completed under the Phase I award (1621560). The initial grant focused heavily on strain development to engineer an extensive heterologous pathway to produce thebaine and downstream opioids from a simple carbon source in yeast and transferring this technology from an academic lab to an industrial setting at Antheia.
