K Street loses a friendly ear in Congress with Brady retirement

NEW COALITION: Three companies — Antheia, Genomatica and Ginkgo Bioworks — are teaming up to start the Synthetic Biology Coalition to represent the industry in Washington. Arshi Siddiqui, Mario Ramirez and Clete Willems of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld and Dan Todd and Paul Edattel of Todd Strategies will lobby for the coalition, while CGCN Group is advising it on media.

— “The ongoing efforts of the US government to invest in next generation technologies, including synthetic biology, are laying the groundwork for continued investment, governance, and prioritization of this transformative technology at a national scale,” Jason Kelly, Gingko’s chief executive, said in a statement.
